Orlando Pirates' coach Eric Tinkler will await the bidding of his bosses at the club to find out his fate having finished the season without a trophy.

Bucs are on an extended, five-week off-season break following their 3-2 Nedbank Cup final defeat to SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

That was the Buccaneers' second cup final defeat of the season, having lost to Tunisia's Etoile Du Sahel in the CAF Confederation Cup in November.

Tinkler said: "I've said before that I have come to this club to win trophies. "I'm disappointed with the fact that we didn't win the Confed and the Nedbank Cup. But I look back at my work ethic and I just continue to work hard, continue believing in myself, and believing in the boys. What is dealt to me, in my future, that's not entirely in my hands. Obviously, you are judged on your performances and winning trophies. And I've ended this season without having achieved that, which is a massive disappointment.

"I'm sure we will find out within the next week or two exactly what will happen."

Luvuyo Memela opened the scoring for Bucs in the 12th minute, but Matsatsantsa responded with goals by Jeremy Brockie, Bradley Grobler and Michael Boxall.

Bucs' sustained pressure could only result in Clayton Daniels's 53rd-minute own goal. Tinkler replaced Vladimir Vermezovic as Pirates' caretaker coach in December 2014.

He has been on a one-year contract as head coach this season.
