A decent contingent of South African track and field stars will compete on the international athletics circuit this weekend.

Some will be chasing Olympic Games qualifying times while others like Caster Semenya - who has already secured her berth - are building up for the Rio spectacle in August.

The 25-year-old multiple SA champ will mark her second Diamond League appearance of the season in the 800m final in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday.

Others competing in the Moroccan capital are Dumisane Hlaselo (1500m), Ruswahl Samaai (long jump), Antonio Alkana (110m hurdles), Carina Horn (100m) and Wenda Nel (400m hurdles).

But the surge for South Africans starts tonight in Czech Republic, where 400m hurdler LJ van Zyl and Nolene Conrad (3000m) will race in the IAAF World Challenge in Ostrava that has Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt as the headline act in the 100m final.

Semenya, 25, will race in Rabat boasting the two fastest times in the women's 800m so far this year.

Also on Sunday, Elroy Gelant (5000m), Dylon Cotter (long jump), Rynardt van Rensburg (800m), Alyssa Conley (200m) and Victor Hogan (discus throw) will be in action at the World Challenge in Hengelo, Holland.
