Willard Katsande has gone from reckless tackler to classy midfield anchorman and, most recently, a goal-scorer Kaizer Chiefs can rely on.

Last night, when Amakhosi were desperate for a hero, Katsande popped up at the far post to score the winning goal in a 2-1 victory over University of Pretoria.

It was Katsande's sixth goal of the season, which sparked huge celebrations for Amakhosi supporters, who have not had that winning feeling in the Absa Premiership since the club beat SuperSport 2-1 in February.

Amakhosi came from behind to secure victory and while Katsande scored the winner, Reneilwe Letsholonyane should also be given credit.

When the midfielder was introduced in the second half for Lucky Baloyi, the game changed for Amakhosi. He missed a sitter not too long after coming on, but made up for it with a goal in the 72nd minute as he cancelled out Vuyisile Ntombayithethi's goal for Tuks.

Katsande was unmarked at the far post to head home the all important goal six minutes from time. With this win, coach Steve Komphela can sleep a lot better and hope that Amakhosi finish the season on a high.

Tuks should blame no one but themselves for the defeat. They started well with a fifth minute goal from Ntombayithethi, but they were eventually caught out by Amakhosi.

The defeat puts them under loads of pressure after fellow relegation candidates Jomo Cosmos and Maritzburg United picked up points in their matches.

Amakhosi have moved into third place on the table after the victory.
