Local boxing fans will be spoilt for choice this weekend as revered Kazakhstani Gennady "GGG" Golovkin is defending his WBA Super, Interim WBC, IBF and IBO middleweight belts against American Dominic Wade in the early hours of Sunday in Los Angeles.

Operations at home get under way tonight at East London's Orient Theatre where Simpiwe Vetyeka and Xolisani Ndongeni risk their No 3 ratings by the WBA in non-title fights against Japanese Tsuyoshi Tameda and Tanzanian Emilio Norfat. Sijuta Promotions organised this eight-bout card.

Then tomorrow night, also in East London, former top amateurs Thulani Mbenge, Ludumo Lamati and Azinga Fuzile intend to show their potential in the professional ranks. Mbenge meets Antonio Mayala in the welterweight class while Lamati will face Luthando Mbumbulwana at featherweight.

Fuzile will take on Aphiwe Kelewu over eight rounds.

These bouts will be staged by Rumble Africa Promotions at Mdantsane Indoor Sports Centre.

In Sweden, SA's Ryno Liebenberg challenges IBF Inter-Continental light-heavyweight champion Erik Skoglund. On Sunday at Emperors Palace, Kevin Lerena defends his SA cruiserweight title against Johnny Muller.
