Ajax Cape Town have broken into the Absa Premiership top eight following their 3-1 win over SuperSport United yesterday in Atteridgeville, Pretoria.

For a while now the Urban Warriors have battled for form since winning the MTN8 title in September.

But they were a different team against Matsatsantsa, who have now dropped to 12th.

Roger de Sa's boys got off to a good start and their dominance early on set the tone for the rest of the match.

Ajax were in front just 21 minutes into the match when they won a corner and Erwin Isaacs delivered a great ball to find Tashreeq Morris in the box. The striker needed no second invitation as he rose highest to head the ball into the back of the net.

The home side picked themselves up and equalised through a thunderous strike by Kingston Nkhatha on the stroke of half-time. The Zimbabwean scored the volley after receiving a pin-point ball from Thato Mokeke.

The teams went into the break one goal apiece, but it was all Ajax in the second stanza.

Ten minutes into the second half, Isaacs was back to torment Clayton Daniels and company in the SuperSport defence. Isaacs played a through-ball to Toriq Losper who was waiting in the box and the latter guided home at the near post to give Ajax a deserved lead.

In the 74th minute, Prince Nxumalo, who was previously in SuperSport United's books, put the final nail in the coffin after a deep forward pass.

l Elsewhere yesterday, Platinum Stars humiliated Polokwane City 3-0 at Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg, with Sibusiso Msomi, Tlou Segolela and Robert N'gambi all finding the back of the net.
