Bartlett optimistic as Tuks prepare for Bucs

Shaun Bartlett has had minimal time on the training field with his University of Pretoria players, but he has already seen signs of improvement as another vital league clash with Orlando Pirates looms large tomorrow.

AmaTuks threw away two points in their 2-2 draw with Free State Stars on Wednesday, having led 2-0 at home into the second half.

"We will need to stay more focused defensively, that is the major message we need to give to the players.

"It was obviously disappointing not to get the full points. But it is also important we stay positive and move on quickly," Bartlett said.

"It was good to see the team scoring goals, which has been a problem in the past, and that will give the players confidence."

With AmaTuks having played at the weekend and on Wednesday, Bartlett, who was appointed late last week to replace Sammy Troughton, says he has had minimal chance to work with the team.

"I have only had two days of proper training and what we have worked on primarily is getting the team more organised and better structured.

"The defence is an important part of this and it has to be an effort from the whole team."

AmaTuks are currently in the relegation play-off position in the PSL, but are just a point behind Jomo Cosmos.
