City kick Masenamela out

Punch Masenamela has been kicked out by Polokwane City following a disciplinary hearing.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns left-back arrived at Rise and Shine on a two-year deal at the beginning of this season.

He soon became a regular, but a source told Sowetan yesterday that he soon lost his way, which led to disciplinary hearings that resulted in the club terminating the contract between the two parties.

"Sometimes he was missing training and the club gave up on him in the end," the source revealed.

Masenamela couldn't be reached for comment despite numerous attempts. His agent Jazzman Mahlakgane confirmed his exit and admitted he's disappointed with the player.

"They [Polokwane City] informed me ... in all fairness, I was informed all the way through with regards to the disciplinary hearing.

"Quite frankly, I'm disappointed. This is not what I expected from a player of his calibre. I was hoping he would turn the corner there and revive his career," he said.

However, Mahlakgane added that he would not abandon the 29-year-old defender.

"I will still support him," he concluded.

The Limpopo side also recently parted ways with three players - Batiste Faye, Dino Visser and Kgothatso Mashia.
