Tommy will outgun Braehmer

ADAPTING: Thomas Oosthuizen
ADAPTING: Thomas Oosthuizen

Boxing promoter Rodney Berman does not give German champion Jüergen Braehmer a chance of retaining his WBA light-heavyweight belt against undefeated Thomas "Tommy Gun" Oosthuizen in Germany on March 12.

The 36-year-old title-holder is making his sixth defence.

The championship bout will be staged by Kalle Sauerland in Neubrandenburg in northeast Germany where Braehmer won the title against Marcus Oliveira in 2013.

Berman said: "Tommy sees Braehmer as the stepping stone towards his big goals. I can't see Braehmer living with a fit and motivated Tommy Oosthuizen."

The battle of the left-handers was confirmed this week.

The 27-year-old challenger, who is currently rated No 9 by the WBA, said: "I'm definitely going to cash in on my skill, speed, youth, power and agility to win the fight. I'll put him away for sure. You'll hear nothing from the scorecards."

Oosthuizen has flattened 14 of his 27 opponents. The former IBO super middleweight and light-heavyweight titlist relinquished the super middleweight belt in 2013 after seven successful defences.

He moved up to light heavyweight and won the WBC International belt in his first bout in the division, against Dennis Grachev.
