Search for Meyer replacement begins immediately- SARU

The South African Rugby Union (SARU) has confirmed that the search for embattled former Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer’s successor will begin with immediate effect.

Meyer resigned from his job on Wednesday following a stint of poor results at the 2015 Rugby World Cup last month.

Several unions were believed to be unhappy with Meyer’s 66.7% winning ratio‚ which yielded no meaningful silverware in four years.

SARU president Oregan Hoskins says he thanked Meyer for his services to South African rugby.

According to a statement by SARU the CEO will present the process of recruitment as per the recommendation of the High Performance Committee for approval to the Executive Council on Wednesday, after which it will be shared with the provincial unions at the General Council meeting two days later.
