No shocks in PSL final transfers

The Premier Soccer League's transfer window deadline slammed shut at 5pm yesterday without any major shock, with confirmation that Sibusiso Vilakazi would stay put at Bidvest Wits.

A subject of much speculation for the past two months as Gauteng's 'Big Three' sought to secure his signature, Vilakazi was nowhere near the PSL headquarters as teams made last-minute additions to their squad.

PSL general manager Derek Blanckensee emerged after the deadline to confirm the Bafana Bafana midfielder would not move, but the league's Parktown headquarters was still full of activity.

Luyolo Nomandela, who transferred to Mamelodi Sundowns from Free State Stars just last season before being loaned out to Moroka Swallows, was the latest addition to Jomo Cosmos yesterday, with club owner Jomo Sono making it in time into the PSL offices to register him on loan.

Sundowns, meanwhile, registered SA's under-20 star Motjeka Madisha, the central defender who should deputise for Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Thabo Nthethe.

Even more interesting was the confirmation that striker Camildine Abraw had been registered to play for Kaizer Chiefs, even as the dispute over his signature with Bloemfontein Celtic has still not been finalised.

Celtic chief executive Khumbulani Konco confirmed no deal with Chiefs had been reached after Phunya Sele Sele took the player to the PSL's dispute resolution chamber for signing two contracts. "There's no agreement. We will wait for our lawyer to brief us," he said.

Orlando Pirates completed the registration of their new signing Yassar Mugerwa, who they spotted this year when he played for Uganda Revenue Authority against them in the CAF Confed Cup.

Abel Mabaso moved on loan from Sundowns to Ajax Cape Town and Kwanda Mngonyama goes back to Maritzburg United, while University of Pretoria have signed Siyabonga Ngubane on loan from Black Aces - additional reporting by Mark Gleeson.
