We must play like this more often, says Papic

Polokwane City coach Kosta Papic has called for consistency after his side bounced back from their nightmare at the University of Pretoria to hold defending champions Kaizer Chiefs to a draw in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday.

City were hammered 3-0 by AmaTuks on Saturday but were superb in their 1-1 draw with Amakhosi at Peter Mokaba Stadium. They could have even won the match after putting pressure on Chiefs in the second period, with Jabulani Maluleke, Randy Ngobe and Puleng Tlolane, who scored the all important equaliser, causing problems for the visitors' defence.

"We must play like this all the time, not like we did on Saturday. We must forget about that match (against AmaTuks) as soon as possible," Papic said.

"We must have more performances like the one against Chiefs throughout the season, especially when the players who do not have work permits are registered. We want to see the fighting spirit, players creating chances and scoring the goals. Polokwane City will have something to show this country."

Papic felt his team were hard done by in the second half when the ball struck the hand of Amakhosi defender Eric Mathoho in the visitors' box. Referee Lwandile Mfiki instead showed a yellow card to Rendani Ndou for protesting his decision not to award a spot kick.

"It's a pity. This league is number eight in the world and we have that kind of refereeing? It's not good for football. The country does not deserve that. It affects people who pay to watch football."

City's next match is away to Ajax Cape Town in two weeks' time.
