Rossouw as slippery as ever

Former Springbok and Western Province wing Pieter Rossouw was a slippery customer in his playing days.

His elusiveness was evident when he neatly sidestepped a question about the Springboks' World Cup chances in England starting next month.

"Slaptjips" was recently the Bulls backline coach until he was shafted, and now fulfills the same role with the Namibian national team.

"To be fair, I wasn't focussing a lot on the Springboks. But everybody knows their journey will not be very easy," he said.

"If you look at it, it will be about the quarterfinals and the semifinals. If they can win three good knockout matches, they will be the world champions."

Namibia are in South Africa to prepare for the World Cup where they are grouped with Argentina, Tonga, Georgia and New Zealand in Pool C.

With a player base smaller than most Karoo outposts, the Namibians will be leaning heavily on their Super Rugby and Currie Cup contingent.
