Foes Gabi, Unathi to slug it out

WAIT IS OVER: SA junior-featherweight champion Gabisile Tshabalala
WAIT IS OVER: SA junior-featherweight champion Gabisile Tshabalala

Sworn enemies Gabisile "Simply The Best" Tshabalala and Unathi "African Queen" Myekeni will finally meet in their eagerly awaited shootout on Friday night, Tshabalala's trainer Elias Mpembe confirmed yesterday.

He said the two fighters, who have been exchanging verbal barbs since 2011, will collide for the vacant WBF junior-featherweight title at Graceland Casino in Secunda.

"The question of who is the best between these two will be answered," said Mpembe.

"But I am prepared to tell you that Gabisile will emerge victorious and become the first female world boxing champion from Gauteng."

Myekeni, from Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape, is the former undefeated WBF junior- featherweight holder who lost her belt in the boardroom due to inactivity. Tshabalala is the SA junior-feather title holder.

The fight will be staged by female promoter Mbali "Don Queen" Zantsi in partnership with the sport department.
