Big fights for winning duo

Paul "The Natural" Kamanga and Phillip "Time Bomb" Ndou are in line for big fights following their stunning knockout wins over Herbert Nkabiti and Shauri Ramadhani.

PAUL "The Natural" Kamanga and Phillip "Time Bomb" Ndou are in line for big fights following their stunning knockout wins over Herbert Nkabiti and Shauri Ramadhani.

Kamanga - the former undefeated WBA Pan African junior-welterweight champion - blew Botswana's Nkabiti away in one round at Turffontein Racecourse.

He will face Jason "Badman" Bedeman in a non-title bout in the welterweight division on September 19.

Promoter Rodney Berman said yesterday that there was a lot in store for Kamanga: "First things first, he has a tough assignment against Jason. I do not want to put Paul under pressure but if he succeeds against Bedeman, then he will feature in a super tournament the end of the year."

Kamanga, who is trained by Anton Gilmore and is undefeated after 16 fights, said: "I am going to take a week off after this fight and come back full steam. I will be ready come September 19."

Ndou was pummelled in the first three rounds before knocking his tough foe out in the fourth round at Thohoyandou Town Hall on Sunday. He will challenge for the IBF Continental Africa welterweight title, held by US-based Ghanaian Fredrick "General Okunka" Lawson.

"It should happen either next month or in October," said the 38-year-old knockout artist who improved his ratio to 34 in 38 wins against four defeats.

But Ndou, whose corner was manned by Lehlohonolo Ledwaba and Warren Hulley, looked a shadow of the giant that gave Floyd Mayweather jnr a good run for his money before finally succumbing in the seventh round in 2007.
