PHILLIP "Time Bomb" Ndou is delighted that he has been given the opportunity to fight in front of his home fans in Thohoyandou.

The 38-year-old former SA and WBA Intercontinental featherweight and WBU and WBC International junior lightweight titlist said he had always wanted to fight at home since he turned professional in 1997 at the age of 20, but he never got his wish - until now.

"I have always wanted to fight at home but that never happened. But Promise has made it possible for me to do that," he said, referring to boxing promoter Promise Moyo, whose Skylon Promotion will stage his homecoming international bout against Tanzanian Shauri Ramadhani at Thohoyandou Town Hall on Sunday.

Their bout has been described as preparation for Ndou's challenge for the IBF Continental Africa welterweight title, held by US-based Ghanaian Fredrick "General Okunka" Lawson.

"I don't undermine Ramadhani at all," said Ndou. "I have never undermined any of the guys that I fought before. But one thing is for sure and that is I am going for a win to get back to the top, where I belong."

Moyo, the Free State-based promoter, described Ramadhani as a 22-year-old former IBF Intercontinental featherweight and Universal Boxing Union International lightweight champion from Dar es Salaam.

"I have been warned that he comes fully prepared to fight, so this promises to be a very good fight."

Ndou made a breathtaking comeback in 2013 after a three-year layoff by getting off the canvass against Pius "Mr Hercules" Dipheko to eventually pulverise the equally competent foe in the fifth round of their energy-sapping clash at Nasrec Arena.

Ndou, who packs crippling power in both hands, knocked 33 of 38 victims opponents senseless, mostly in Johannesburg where his skills were perfected by trainer Nick Durandt.

On the same card, which begins at 2pm, former SA junior-flyweight female champion Lisbeth Sivhaga from Polokwane will take on Fatuma Ramadhani of Tanzania in a non-title bout over six rounds.
