Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has slammed what he described as a "boot of a car" approach from opposition teams to try lure away key man Sibusiso Vilakazi.

Hunt admitted that the former footballer of the season was in a confused state regarding his future with the club, though his contract only expires in three years.

Kaizer Chiefs have gone public about their interest in Vilakazi, while Mamelodi Sundowns are also understood to have contacted the player directly.

"It's very disturbing what has gone on," said Hunt, who faces a headache over whether to field Vilakazi in his side's MTN8 quarterfinal clash against SuperSport United on Tuesday.

"The boy's head has been spun around by all these unprofessional approaches. No one has come through the front door to say they want him. Instead this entire thing has been handled like the old days, when business was done behind the boot of a car.

"When we want a player we will always approach the club directly. It's come to a point now where the player is with us but his mind is not right and the transfer window is still open, so you never know what will happen," he added.
