If a boxer’s current form determines his future‚ then the heavyweight bout between Flo ‘‘The Black Panther” Simba and Khayeni Hlungwane could be compelling.

Simba is fresh from a fourth-round stoppage over equally competent foe Big Ben Mulumba at Emperors Palace in April.

On the other hand‚ Hlungwane sent tough-as-teak fighter Fikile “Big Animal” Nyalungu sprawling to the canvas in one round recently. They will lock horns at Presley’s in Pretoria on Wednesday night.

Simba‚ the much-loved former IBO youth heavyweight champion‚ was actually making a comeback after a two-year sabbatical when he fought in Mulumba. He had been inactive since 2012.

He had been advised by his promoter Rodney Berman to pay attention to his health after his sugar diabetes threatened to impact on his career.

Simba‚ who is trained by Harold Volbrecht‚ has 11 knockouts in 13 wins against four losses‚ which were all by stoppages.

Hlungwane‚ on the other hand‚ had become a laughing stock after losing several bouts in succession and had not won a fight since June 2013.

The six-rounder between Simba and Hlungwane will form part of the nine-bout development tournament that will be staged by Andre Thysse’s Real Steel Promotions.

Thysse has included his charge Danie “Tshwane Tornado” Venter in the bill and he will make a comeback against Vusumzi Mlindwa.

Venter last fought in December when he was stopped in the ninth round by Oleksandr Usyk for the WBO inter-continental cruiserweight belt in Ukraine.

He will welcome Mlindwa from Duncan Village over six rounds. Mlindwa was unlucky against Donovan Luff for the Eastern Cape heavyweight title in December.

Most eyes will be fixed firmly on Hansie Carr who has registered two knockout wins on his comeback since he last fought in 2003. The boxer‚ who is trained by Manny Fernandes‚ will take on William Bankisi in the junior middleweight class.

Thysse said action will begin at 7.30pm.
