Former SA cricketer Clive Rice dies

Former SA cricket captain Clive Rice has died after a long battle with brain cancer, according to reports.

The 66 year-old former cricketer had a surgery in India for brain tumour.

Rice’s career coincided with South Africa's sporting isolation and his international experience was limited to his post-prime days.

He played three One Day Internationals for South Africa following the country's return from sporting segregation 24 years ago.

He was described by author Peter Kirsten as one of the “most formidable gifted and competitive allrounders that any age of the game has ever seen”.
