Talks with Chiefs still on, says Tefu

Tefu Mashamaite has broken his silence on his future at Kaizer Chiefs, saying, to his knowledge, negotiations are still ongoing to renew his contract with the club.

With the 30-year-old's Mashamaite's contract, which ends at the end of June, still not renewed speculation has been rife over the future of the PSL footballer of the season.

This has been fueled by a Sunday World report which said Mashamaite and goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune were set to leave Chiefs.

Mashamaite said in an SMS that he was yet to meet Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung, along with his agent, Jazzman Mahlakgane, to discuss a new contract.

The SMS read: "The mistake ppl [people] made was to take a weekend tabloid report seriously. I'm yet to meet with Jazzman and Bobby maybe sometime next week. "I'm currently in Limpopo, I feel like a game meat so I'm going to hunt... There is too much noise in jozi."

Mahlakgane said he did not want to comment further than what the player had said.

Chiefs have called an "end of season" press conference for Tuesday at the club's Naturena headquarters, but did not give further details on agenda of the briefing.

Mashamaite was also Chiefs' player of the season, but gave the award, including the R100000 prize, to centre-back partner team-mate Mulomowandau Mathoho.

The duo were central to Chiefs conceding just 14 goals winning the Absa Premiership by a record 69 points.
