Tinkler ready for Bucs' next Cup challenge

Orlando Pirates caretaker coach Eric Tinkler can't wait to know who the Buccaneers will face next in the CAF Confederation Cup, as their journey on the continent gets a lot more interesting.

Bucs were comfortable 3-0 winners in the second round, second leg clash against CF Mounana of Gabon at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, clinching the tie 5-2 on aggregate to progress to the final knockout round before the group stages.

In the next round, those who progress will face the losers of the Champions League second round.

Big clubs such as Raja Casablanca of Morocco and Africa's most successful club, Al Ahly, will be in the hat for the draw set to take place in Cairo tomorrow after they got knocked out of the Champions League.

"The further we go in the competition we are going to start finding even better opposition. There will be more names people are familiar with and you can even see that in the Europa League.

"The further you go in that competition the more interesting it becomes and the more difficult it becomes," Tinkler said.

"Now the next qualifier is going to be against a team that's coming out of the Champions League and those are the teams we want to play against. That's the objective."

Tinkler hailed the club's victory over CF Mounana as the best team performance since he took over as interim boss.

"There was a lot of tactical discipline, high work rate from both Kermit [Erasmus] and [Thamsanqa] Gabuza. We applied high pressure and made it very difficult for them."
