'Good for my confidence'

He's into double scoring figures in a season for the first time in his career and on Saturday he bagged his first professional hat-trick.

Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus, who has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season, dedicated his three goals against CF Mounana of Gabon at the weekend to his fiancée and two daughters - one for each - as Bucs edged closer to the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

Erasmus, 24, scored two goals in a space of four minutes in the first half and completed the hat-trick on the hour with a cool finish that sealed a 5-2 aggregate win over their lacklustre opponents.

"It's my first professional hat-trick and it's something I always wanted to achieve. I want to dedicate it to my two beautiful girls and my fiancée," the striker said.

"The first half of the season I had good scoring opportunities and I missed most of them.

"I worked more on my finishing at training and that has helped me. I know the runs I make are good and I get into good scoring positions. To capitalise on chances we create is vital. I am happy I was able to score today. It's good for my confidence."

Erasmus did not feature in Pirates' fairytale Champions League campaign in 2013 because he was cup tied. He says playing continental football will help build his character.

"It was a disappointment when I joined Pirates and I could not play in the Champions League. I felt I could have contributed to the team. I am really excited that I am part of the team this season. It's good for me because it helps me build my character.

"The team is hungry to get into the group stages of the Confederation Cup and go all the way. It's always good playing at the highest level. We hope that we get one of the big teams so that we can test ourselves and see how far we are."
