Amazulu are doing a good job of keeping the relegation fat lady from singing as they bloodied Polokwane City's nose with a 2-0 win last night.

It was a deserved win and AmaZulu could have scored more but they were not as sharp as they should have been.

Their fight for survival is very much alive as they were a far more vibrant outfit than the one that lost to Kaizer Chiefs last Thursday.

The intent was clear from the onset as Usuthu attacked with verve and vigour.

AmaZulu were like a rash on City and their early lead would have been well deserved.

AmaZulu though were fortunate not to concede in the 16th minute when Thapelo Nyongo lost the ball in midfield but Esau Kanyenda's tame shot was easily dealt with by keeper Energy Murambadoro.

But AmaZulu's persistence was eventually rewarded on the half-hour mark when Goodman Dlamini converted from a Marc van Heerden free kick.

Just when AmaZulu looked like they would sag after spurning countless chances, Bongi Ntuli broke free from the City defence in the 84th minute and latched onto a Dlamini flick on, which he blasted past goalkeeper Modiri Marumo.

It was his toughest chance of the night but it secured the three points.

l Black Aces beat Maritzburg United 1-0, while Platinum Stars drew 0-0 against SuperSport United.
