Free State Stars player Richard Henyekane has died.

It has been reported that Henyekane died in a car crash in the Free State in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The club's official statement said that the 31 year-old was the only one to die out of the five people who were travelling in his car.

"Henyekane was travelling with four other passengers when they were involved in a tragic motor vehicle accident. He was, unfortunately the only one to lose his life in this incident," the statement read.

Richard's brother, Joseph passed away about four months ago and was laid to rest on December 27.

The statement continued to read: "We wish to say to the Henyekane family that they must know that we are with them at all times, and trust that they will put all their sorrows in the hands of God the Almighty in this hard period."
