THULANI Serero made a welcome return from injury as he helped Ajax Amsterdam to a 4-2 victory over Kamohelo Mokotjo's FC Twente in the Dutch league at the weekend.

The battle between the two Bafana discards was not quite as intense as it might have been, with Serero starting on the bench as he works his way back from a groin injury.

Mokotjo did play most of the game, though, but he was substituted in injury time. However, he could not engineer a victory for his side, who have now slipped to eighth in the league.

Serero will now set his eyes on Thursday's Uefa Europa League knockout clash with Polish tram Legia Warsaw.

May Mahlangu was a late substitute for new Turkish side Konyaspor as they lost 1-0 at home to Sivasspor in a league clash, while Ayanda Patosi started for Belgian side Lokeren as they held league leaders Club Brugge to a 1-1 draw.

Lokeren have just four more matches to close the five-point gap on Anele Ngcongca's Genk to win a place in the top six Championship play-offs
