AJAX Cape Town coach Roger de Sa says he is desperate to end the club's winless run, but admits it will be tough doing so against Mamelodi Sundowns tomorrow night.
The Brazilians host the Urban Warriors at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
The match kicks off at 6pm.
Ajax have not tasted victory since November 26 and travel to Tshwane eager to end the year on a high. "We beat them [1-0] in the first round, and maybe we can do it again because we know it can be done," De Sa said.
"We absolutely want to get our first win in December and bring back some confidence."
While Ajax have been sliding down the table - to fourth place - De Sa will be comforted by the fact that Sundowns have not suddenly become the team to beat in the league either since the two sides last faced off in August.
The Brazilians have so far failed in their efforts to reduce log leaders Kaizer Chiefs' 15-point lead despite an unbeaten run of 12 matches.
De Sa reflected on his side's 1-1 draw against AmaZulu at the Cape Town Stadium, where Franklin Cale scored a last-gasp equaliser to earn them a point. He said his young players panic in the final third, an area that needs to improve if they are to beat Sundowns and cement their place in the top-half of the table.
"It was a soft goal that we conceded and then recovered late with what could be another contender for goal of the year, but we can't put away the tap-ins. It is frustrating because it is something we try and work on a lot," De Sa added.
Downs, who are third on the log with a game in hand, hope to welcome back striker Anthony Laffor from a slight knock tomorrow night.
The Liberian limped off after scoring the two goals that helped the Brazilians win 2-1 against Maritzburg United on Wednesday. He will undergo a late fitness test this morning.
