Chiefs must brace for Chilli reception

CHIPPA United's lack of fear of reputations could make them dangerous opponents for Absa Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs at Peter Mokaba Stadium tomorrow.

But the Chilli Boyz's aim to make things hot for Chiefs in Polokwane could depend on whether striker David Zulu makes an appearance against the club he's reported to have already signed for ahead of the January transfer window.

Coach Roger Sikhakane has denied knowledge of any move for Zulu being official yet.

However, Chippa's top scorer's absence from their 3-1 defeat away to Polokwane City on Saturday raised eyebrows.

"Zulu, for me, is the same as the other players in this team," was all Sikhakhane had to say on his striker yesterday.

But his five goals have been influential in their impressive first half of the season.

Chiefs, unbeaten at the halfway stage, have increasingly looked like running away with the 2014-2015 title. Amakhosi are two games from Orlando Pirates' 17-game unbeaten record in a season.

But Mamelodi Sundowns, who have a game in hand that could see them cut the lead to 10 points, still fancy their chances of catching Amakhosi.

Downs will rely on teams such as Chippa to pierce Chiefs' air of invincibility.

Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter was not pleased with his side's defensive mistakes in the midweek 2-2 draw with Platinum Stars, and will be looking for a tighter performance.

"I've got no feelings about conceding two goals. What I have got feelings about is the way we conceded them," the Amakhosi coach said.
