Orlando Pirates came roaring back in the second half to take all three Absa Premiership points as Sifiso Myeni stuck away a stoppage time winner yesterday for a 2-1 triumph against SuperSport United.

Myeni hit home a left-footed footed shot in the 94th minute as the Buccaneers showed a revitalised performance after a half-time firing up from coach Vladimir Vermezovic.

United looked to be cruising to yet another win over Bucs, having beaten them in the cup semifinal a fortnight ago, but Pirates showed strong character after the break to turn around the result.

Coach Gordon Igesund rested key players and protected others on three yellow cards ahead of Saturday's Telkom Knockout .

Even without key players, United had the half-time lead after Thuso Phala's 21st minute goal.

They could have wrapped up the game had Dino Ndlovu not missed a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper shortly after the break but after that it was all Pirates as Oupa Manyisa and Myeni fired them up and changes off the bench gave them added impetus.

Lehlohonolo Masalesa was brought in as a new midfield option as Vermezovic again rung the changes in the Bucanneers line-up but it was his error that led to SuperSport's (opening) goal in the 21st minute. A soft back pass was intercepted by Ndlovu, setting up a series of passes that culminated in a perfect through ball from Morne Nel for Phala to beat Brighton Mhlongo from the right hand side.

Pirates had two chances to equalise before half-time but spurned both.

Pirates took charge after Sarr rose to head home a corner in the 73nd minute and in the end were worthy winners.
