Hunt feels decisions went against his side

WITH SuperSport United in determined form, and a defence that lost concentration on occasion, Gavin Hunt did not need decisions to also go against Bidvest Wits in his side's 2-1 Telkom Knockout defeat at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday.

SuperSport bounced back impressively from a 4-1 home league defeat to Maritzburg United in midweek with a forceful display in an entertaining, end-to-end cup tie.

But they had some assistance from referee Robert Smith and his assistants as Dino Ndlovu was offside on a breakaway that led to Dove Wome's second-minute opener.

Chris Katongo equalised for Wits in the 12th, with substitute Lebogang Manyama burying a 65th-minute winner for SuperSport.

"We had enough chances," Students coach Gavin Hunt lamented after the game. "Obviously, the breakaway is always dangerous with SuperSport.

"The first goal was offside. It put us on the back foot after the first couple of minutes. The foul on Siyabonga Nhlapo was a penalty. So it was disappointing - big decisions went against us."

SuperSport counterpart Gordon Igesund was pleased with the character shown by his team in the wake of last Wednesday's heavy loss.

"I demand that. I won't accept anything less," the former Bafana Bafana coach said. "And you could see at the end we were fully committed and still going into tackles."

Ndlovu had been a menace to the Wits defence, but had to go off with concussion early in the second half. If anything, replacement Manyama gave SuperSport more problems with forceful runs and a good goal.

Both sides return to league action on Sunday. SuperSport away to Ajax Cape Town and Wits travelling to Free State Stadium to meet Bloemfontein Celtic.
