BIDVEST Wits and SuperSport United face off in the Telkom Knockout quarterfinals tomorrow (Milpark, 3pm kickoff) driven by a burning need to redress their perplexing midweek defeats.

On any other day this fixture would have been about two Premier Soccer League overachievers Gavin Hunt and Gordon Igesund prolonging their rivalry.

Instead, Wits want to correct the 2-0 loss at home to Polokwane City on Wednesday as much as Matsatsantsa want to forget the 4-1 lashing at the hands of Maritzburg United on the same evening.

"I'm certain Gordon's team will be a little different, so we'll have to set our stalls out differently," Hunt said.

"Under Igesund SuperSport have done very well in their previous games because of a few changes that he has brought in.

"Wednesday night's game was a stand-alone. We played against a team that played total football. City's style was very interchangeable and I didn't know where half of them were."

Wits have tough and crafty midfielders capable of unlocking SuperSport's safe in much the same way Maritzburg did, such as Jabulani Shongwe and Sibusiso Vilakazi.

Igesund said he would stick to the plan that got them this far.

"We are not going to change too much. I have been quite happy overall with the way we've been playing," he said.

"We've been scoring goals and we will continue to emphasise that the players go forward because we like to attack teams.

"We'll have to tighten up a little bit in defence, though.

"I don't think we suffered a big bump [on Wednesday]."
