Chippa stand up to test

CHIPPA United coach Roger Sikhakhane praised his players for putting a tough weekend behind them to come back and hold champions Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-1 draw at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday night.

Chippa extended their unbeaten run in the league to five matches and although in eighth place, they are just three points off second place in the Absa Premiership.

Sikhakhane said they started Wednesday's game slowly because they were still feeling the effects of last weekend's high-tempo game against AmaZulu.

"But we got into the game in the second half. It was tough up against a good side who were well organised... In the end our boys did very well to get the point."

Chippa were 1-0 down at half time to Cuthbert Malajila's goal on the counterattack, but equalised on the hour mark through Sundowns loanee Thami Sangweni's curling free-kick.
