AmaZulu still optimistic

RELEGATION is the furthest thing from the minds of basement dwellers AmaZulu, who insisted yesterday that their Bafana Bafana striker Bongani Ndulula is about to transfer his international form to the club.

AmaZulu are the only team that is yet to win a league match all season, but spokesman Philani Mabaso said this run of poor form will change when they travel to Charles Mopeli Stadium to face Free State Stars tonight at 6pm.

Mabaso said management believes that caretaker coach Wilfred Mugeyi, who replaced the sacked Craig Rosslee on an interim basis, could turn the tide with the assistance of a resurgent Ndulula. Mugeyi did not rush to make drastic changes to his side in his first game in charge, going down 1-0 to Chippa United last week. "Mugeyi has his own way of doing things," said Mabaso.

"We are aware of our situation and we are doing something, but we are not about to press the panic button. Not even relegation has crossed our minds. There are negative vibes about the team but there are positives signs like Bongani Ndulula."

Ndulula has already scored two goals for Bafana in their last three games, and it is still a mystery why he has not shown the same deadly form for the team.

He was also the leading striker for the SA under-23 side, recording a remarkable 15 goals in 14 matches in the junior ranks.
