WBF cruiserweight champion Danie "Tshwane Tornado" Venter returns to action in Pretoria where he will face Marcel "Big Ben" Mulumba from the Democratic Republic of Congo over six rounds on Friday.

This international fight is billed for HTS Pretoria Gardens School.

Mulumba, who is trained in Cape Town by Hendrik Human, last fought in November.

The contest on Friday night will be staged by Real Steel Promotions of Pieter de Wet and Andre Thysse.

They are responsible for the career of Venter, who last fought in September last year when he won the world title with a first-round demolition of Shawn Cox from Barbados.

Friday night's bill features Fikile "The Big Animal" Nyalunga against Khayeni Hlungwane, who will meet in the cruiserweight class over eight rounds.

Nyalunga has not seen action since June last year, when he was stopped in the 11th round by Daniel Bruwer for the vacant SA cruiserweight title in Soweto.

Hot prospect Sibusiso Zingange will take on Limpopo provincial junior lightweight champion Prince Ndlovu over six rounds while Liz Butler will welcome Phindile Mwelase from KwaZulu-Natal in a women's junior middleweight bout over eight rounds.

Elsewhere, Bruwer was stopped in the seventh round by Oleksandr Usyk for the WBO Intercontinental title in Ukraine on Saturday.

l The professional boxing tournament that was to form part of this year's Macufe festival in Bloemfontein this weekend is off, Gauteng manager Archie Nyingwa has confirmed.
