South Africa will host the BMX African Continental Championships at Giba Gorge, KwaZulu-Natal, on October 26, Cycling SA BMX announced on Wednesday.

"We are looking forward to seeing our riders race on a world-class track on home soil," said Cycling SA BMX commission director, Margot Gerber.

"It is an honour to be able to host an African Continental Championship event in South Africa, especially on our brand new Supercross track."

The Continental Championships will be open to riders from the African continent only, and elite riders will be able to earn world ranking points.

"Not only does a track of this calibre assist our top riders with their training and preparation ahead of World Cup and World Championship events when they race abroad, but it will also assist in developing our young riders from grass-roots level on a world-class facility."
