Freese struggles to explain Stars' loss of form

NOTHING has changed at Platinum Stars, according to coach Allan Freese, but recent results paint a contrasting picture of last season's MTN8 and Telkom Knockout champions.

Dikwena are winless in their last three Absa Premiership matches, and Freese maintains that the slump - from winning two back-to-back trophies to being an easy target - does not worry him.

Senzo Mazingisa, the club's football manager, also confirmed that the coach had the full support of the management as the pressure builds.

Mazingisa said: "We are aware the results are not going our way and we are under pressure, but we are not going to panic. And I must add that the coach is going nowhere."

Freese seemed to struggle to get his head around what had gone wrong with his team, but made an attempt to give a response to questions about their poor form.

"There's not much of a difference from last year to this year. Maybe we've never had all the players at once and playing together at the same time. Some guys go away for international duty and only return late like [Malawian] Robert Ng'ambi," said Freese.

"I am not making excuses, but I have to wonder if we are working the same way. The majority of the squad is made up of the same players that were here last year and they still have the same coach. We just have to go back and work on this and see what happens next."

Stars' next league match is against fellow strugglers AmaTuks on September 28 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium. A negative result could really turn the heat on Freese.
