POLOKWANE City have confirmed the departure of coach Boebie Solomons, who the club say has left his post by mutual consent.

City have made the move following the 3-0 loss to Orlando Pirates on Saturday, a fourth straight defeat for a side languishing second from bottom in the early part of the campaign.

The Limpopo side have placed Junior Bhengu and the club's team manager, Bernard Molekwa, in temporary charge and say there is no time-frame to appoint a full-time successor.

"We parted ways amicably with Boebie, both parties decided the time was right to make the change and we thank him for his contribution to the club," City communications manager Abel Mohubedu told Sowetan.

"Bhengu and Molekwa have been given the reins and there are no CVs we are looking at right now. They are in charge indefinitely."

It has been rumoured that Cavin Johnson, sacked by SuperSport United last week, is now headed for City.

City are no strangers to left-field appointments to the coaching position.

Duncan Lechesa was sacked just four games into their maiden top- flight season last year, lasting one game fewer than Solomons, and was replaced by the club's Brazilian fitness trainer Eduardo Schoeler.

He led the side for three games before the appointment of Solomons, who arrived from his role as assistant coach at Bloemfontein Celtic.

Solomons is the second top-flight coach fired this season after Johnson was relieved of his duties at Matsatsantsa last week.

Victory for City over AmaZulu in their next game could spark a third dismissal with Craig Rosslee reportedly on the brink of an exit from Usuthu.
