SuperSport lost at home to Mpumalanga Black Aces on Wednesday night, adding to a somewhat torrid start to 2014-2015 for Matsatsantsa. They have one victory this season, 1-0 at home to Chippa United on August 12, and four defeats in league and cup action.
Amakhosi skipper Itumeleng Khune said Chiefs will put SuperSport's woes out of their minds as they chase their eighth straight league and cup victory tomorrow, following Wednesday's victory at Platinum Stars.
"We don't want to drop points at home, that's what we're focusing on. What's going on at SuperSport, that's their problem," the keeper said yesterday.
Chiefs have suffered a setback with the broken bone to the right foot of striker Katlego Mphela. Coach Stuart Baxter said the forward will have to show great character to come back from the injury.
The striker broke his foot while scoring in last week's MTN8 semifinal second leg. Baxter knows how much of a setback that will be for the 29-year-old.
"I want to go on record and say I feel so sorry for him," the coach said. "Because 'Killer' came to us not 100% fit - he needed matches and hard training. We were able to give him the training but couldn't give him matches.
"Now, after he's been really working hard and got himself to something approaching good shape, he comes on and looks decent. He scores a good goal and gets a broken bone.
"It's a shame for him. But I just hope what makes you weak makes you strong."
