Johnson wary of Chippa

SUPERSPORT United are wary of Chippa United, but upbeat at the prospect of getting their first Absa Premiership victory of this season in their clash at Lucas Moripe Stadium tonight.

Eastern Cape side Chippa are still on cloud nine after getting the season off to a good start with a 2-0 win over Platinum Stars at the weekend.

Matsatsantsa a Pitori lost to Bidvest Wits, but coach Cavin Johnson is confident they will bounce back.

"We played well against Wits but were unlucky not to score goals. Chippa are a good side, they started the season well with a win and are topping the log," Johnson said yesterday.

"They have recruited some exciting players after gaining promotion. We expect a tough game but we will get maximum points."

He predicts a good season for the club.

"It's still early in the season. We have a good team that will challenge for the league. We just need to work on the finishing so that we can score goals.

Chilli Boyz chairman Chippa Mpengesi said they were determined to register their second league win.

"We are all excited with the win over Platinum Stars, it's a sign of good things to come for us this season. I told the players we need to be consistent. I know we are under pressure now that we are on top of the log," he said.

"SuperSport will be more difficult, especially after their defeat to Wits. Our plan is to do well this season, finish well inside the top eight bracket," Mpengesi added.
