Patosi accuses Belgian police of racism, causes a stir

AYANDA Patosi, pictured, took to social media to accuse Belgian police of racism, but later removed his posts.

But it was not before they had been picked up by media outlets in that country, who have taken his accusations very seriously.

According to the Flemish media, Patosi wrote on Twitter: "During a police check, I was asked if I wanted a banana. Is this life in Europe? I'm in shock."

Patosi has refused to comment on his accusations after removing the post, while his club Lokeren have also distanced themselves from the posts.

So it remains to be seen if Belgian police will question him about the alleged incident and take action against the offending officer if he is found guilty.

Patosi did take to Facebook later on to make a general comment against racism, without referring to this particular alleged incident.

Belgium is seen as one of the more tolerant of the European nations and has a big African population in the country, which is quick to hand out citizenship.
