Khune tells Chiefs to fortify home ground

GREATER consistency and making FNB Stadium a fortress are two of the key points Kaizer Chiefs need to address from last season if they are to win silverware this campaign, according to club captain Itumeleng Khune.

The Chiefs goalkeeper said Stuart Baxter's side have learnt their lessons from last season, where Amakhosi threw away a 13-point lead in the Absa Premiership to finish runners-up to Mamelodi Sundowns.

"We don't want to make it easy for teams to play at FNB this coming season and disrespect us [like last season]," he said.

He alluded to Aces, whom Chiefs meet in the MTN8 on Sunday, beating Amakhosi 1-0 at Soccer City as an example of teams disrespecting Amakhosi in their back yard.

Khune said Amakhosi need to find greater consistency in 2014-15.

"At some point last season we were 13 points clear at the top, but as soon as some of our key players got injuries or were suspended, we lost momentum," he said.
