MacBute has a lot to lose: Nick

TRAINER Nick Durandt has warned that somebody's career could be over when his charge Lusanda "Schoolboy" Komanisi opposes former stablemate MacBute "Macman" Sinyabi in the Mdantsane derby tonight.

At stake will be a vacant IBO featherweight title.

"I have been asked how I feel about taking a fighter into the ring against a boxer I once trained," Durandt said.

"The answer is I feel nothing. I've had many such situations in my career. My loyalty lies with the man I walk to the ring with. MacBute has had his chances. The question should be how does Sinyabi feel fighting my boxer. I took him to 12 national championships. I know MacBute's strengths and weaknesses, but we are taking the fight seriously. Komanisi wants to become a world champion. He has reached the pinnacle of his career."

The colourful trainer added that if Komanisi, pictured, was unsuccessful, it would not be a train smash. "He has the South African title to fall back on. But if you look at it on black and white, MacBute has a lot to lose."

The shootout between Komanisi and Sinyabi will form part of the four-title event at East London's ICC Hall. It is organised by Ayanda Matiti and the Eastern Cape govern- ment.

Eugene Khanyile's fighter Sibusiso "Tantalising" Twani will face Luyanda Nkwakhwa for the vacant WBF strawweight title in another bout.

Khanyile believes his charge will beat Nkwakhwa.

"Sibusiso has never won anything as a fighter even from the amateurs," Khanyile said. "I'm not undermining the people who trained him before he joined me but I am willing to say I will guide him to victory for the WBF title."

Khanyile has guided Twani to three wins and one loss since they joined forces in 2012.

Tonight's lineup also includes WBF junior welterweight champion Zolani Marali against Kaizer Mabuza, and IBO junior bantamweight champion Edrin Dapudong from the Philippines against Lwandile Sityatha.
