PEC Zwolle have admitted that interest in Bafana Bafana midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo is growing and that they would not stand in his way if the right offer came along.

Mokotjo was one of the top midfielders in the Dutch Eredvisie last season, a dramatic change in fortunes for the 23-year-old after spending three years on the bench at Feyenoord.

The player has talked up a move to Ajax Amsterdam and though Zwolle technical director Gerard Nijkamp would not name clubs interested, he admits they will face a battle to keep their number one star.

"There is a lot of noise around him, but for the moment there is nothing concrete," Nijkamp told Voetbal International.

"He is a key player and we would prefer to keep him with us, but every player has their price.

"If we do sell then it will be for an amount with which we can significantly strengthen our squad."

Mokotjo, who joined Zwolle from Feyenoord at the start of the last campaign, says he is ready to return to a bigger club and seems to dismiss a future with Zwolle.

"I can't put a gun to the heads of clubs and tell them to come and get me, but to be honest, I'm ready for the next step," he said.

Mokotjo was voted player of the season by the Zwolle fans at the end of the last campaign and had the highest passing accuracy of any midfielder in the Dutch premier league.

The midfielder's worry in taking a step up to a bigger club is that he finds himself back in the same situation as at Feyenoord, spending too much time on the bench or in the stands.
