Queiroz visit fuels Bafana rumour

IN SA: Carlos Queiroz
IN SA: Carlos Queiroz

CARLOS Queiroz is back in SA for the second time this year, likely to further fuel the possibility of his return as Bafana Bafana boss.

His last trip at the start of the year was to Cape Town to spy on Nigeria at the Chan tournament, but the presence of the former national coach set tongues wagging among local media who reported he was being lined up to replace Gordon Igesund.

This time he has brought his Iran squad to Mbombela for the first of two planned pre-World Cup training camps and a friendly with his native Mozambique on May 2. Queiroz qualified Iran for the World Cup in Brazil where they will take on Argentina, Bosnia and Nigeria.

The camp has been the subject of some controversy in Iran because Queiroz was forced to depart without players from the country's top four clubs, who are involved in Asian Champions League games.

As a result it has been cut by a week and will end after the match against Mozambique.

Iran go to Austria next month for their second camp.
