IF THULANI Serero is to be crowned a champion in Holland in the next few weeks, this will feel sweeter than his previous two title success with Ajax Amsterdam.

The Dutch giants are on the brink of a fourth successive league title, which could be confirmed as early as next week, and this time Serero will pick up a winner's medal.

Serero made just seven appearances in his first season with Ajax and nine in his second - bit-part roles in the campaign and not enough to be granted a gong.

But this year he has been central to Ajax's success and can claim to have played a big role in bringing the league title to Amsterdam. Ajax lead the championship by eight points with five rounds left to play.

Serero has appeared in 25 of the club's 29 league matches, only missing the four through injury. Despite this, he has not yet been offered a new deal at the club beyond his current contract that expires in June next year.

But his representatives in Europe, SEG International, have told Dutch publication Ajax Showtime they are not worried. "Let him keep playing good football and we will look at it later," SEG International said in a statement.
