A SUSPECTED serious injury to exciting new signing Thabo Mnyamane turned out to be not much more than a muscle spasm, and the lanky striker is likely to line up again for University of Pretoria against Bidvest Wits in Tshwane tonight.

The 21-year-old Mnyamane, who has scored four goals in five starts since his January move, was dramatically stretchered off in the second half of the goalless draw that AmaTuks played at the Athlone Stadium against Ajax Cape Town on Sunday.

Coach Steve Barker was not sure of the extent of the injury after the match, but said the initial diagnosis looked bad. "I hope it is not one of those four-to-six-weeks injuries."

His wishes have been granted with the news that what was suspected to be a hamstring tear turned out to be not much more than a spasm and that the player is back in line for action.

Mnyamane made his debut for AmaTuks when the team lost 1-0 to SuperSport United in late January and has since scored against Maritzburg United, Platinum Stars and Lamontville Golden Arrows.

The Sebokeng-born striker played for North West University, where he had been studying, in last year's Varsity Football competition. He finished top scorer in the competition and was swooped upon by AmaTuks. "He's a great player and has a bright future ahead of him. He works hard and has so far done well for himself and the team," said Barker.

The match is set for Tuks Stadium, starting at 7.30pm.
