SOUTH Africa will keep beleaguered coach Gordon Igesund despite the embarrassment suffered by the country after Bafana Bafana's 5-0 thumping by Brazil on Wednesday night.

"The coach has a contract which ends in June. We are working on a four-year cycle from World Cup to World Cup," said Safa president Danny Jordaan yesterday.

Prior to the media briefing, Jordaan had a meeting with Minister of Sport Fikile Mbalula and SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee boss Gideon Sam.

Sowetan has learnt that Jordaan told them that Safa were getting positive feedback from the corporate world who are willing to provide funding for programmes that will produce quality Bafana players for the future.

"Our focus is now on development. We will stage inter-provincial tournaments for the Under-17s and Under-20s later this month, in April and May," said Jordaan.
