THE South African women's hockey team play their penultimate match in their five-match series against Scotland today. The fourth match in the series starts at 6.30pm at the Tshwane University of Technology.

The local side clinched the series on Sunday when they trounced the Scotswomen 4-0, also at TUT, to open up an unassailable lead after winning the first two tests 5-3 and 4-2 last Friday and Saturday. The last test will be played tomorrow afternoon (1.30pm).

Despite the series win, the SA women cannot afford to rest on their laurels as they need to clock up more wins to improve their world ranking from the current 11th.

The team also need to keep the momentum going as they continue to rebuild the side from the blend of youthful vigour coming through the ranks and stalwarts such as double Olympian Kathleen Taylor, one of the scorers on Sunday, and Kelly Madsen, who played her 100th test match on Sunday.

Former under-21 player Toni Marks made her senior debut on Sunday and also got on the scoresheet with SA's second goal of the match. So coach Giles Bonnet and the girls need to finish off Scotland with aplomb to boost morale ahead of stiffer tests .

They fly to Argentina later tomorrow for another five-test series against the team ranked second in the world. Scotland are ranked 16th, while No1-ranked Netherlands lashed SA 5-0 and 5-1 in two tests in Cape Town last month.

Meanwhile, the national men's team also travel to Argentina tomorrow on the same flight as the women for their own five-test series against the South Americans. The men have a new head coach in Fabian Gregory.

SA men's squad: Rassie Pieterse, Gowan Jones, Jethro Eustice, Ashlin Freddy, Robin Jones, Dylan Swanepoel, Mohamed Mea, Matt Guise-Brown, Owen Mvimbi, Clint Panther, Jaco Fourie, Daniel Sibbald, Lungi Tsolekile, Cuan Burton-Moore, Pierre de Voux, Ignatius Malgraff, Taine Paton, Taylor Dart, Nicholas Spooner
