'Gordon just loves Chiefs'

KAIZER Chiefs believe that Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund ''is in love" with the Phefeni Glamour Boys because he seemingly cannot do without their players.

Chiefs general manager Bobby Motaung expressed this view after Igesund's squad to face Morocco in Agadir, Morocco, next week was once again dominated by Amakhosi players.

Igesund selected goalkeeper and skipper Itumeleng Khune, left-back Tsepo Masilela, midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane and forward Bernard Parker.

The Bafana coach has been at loggerheads with Motaung because of his continued selection of Amakhosi players to the squad since he was appointed last year.

"It is clear Gordon is a big fan of Chiefs. Every time he names a Bafana Bafana team, the majority of players are from Chiefs. Right now Gordon has selected a team to play Morocco, Chiefs have four players ... but the rest of the clubs [each] have only one [player chosen].

"Chiefs accept the fact that Gordon is in love with Chiefs, we love him too.

"We accept it that he is always more interested in Chiefs players - even if they are out of form.

"There are other players who are doing well and belong to other clubs in the Premier Soccer League, Gordon must give them a chance or else they will also end up coming to Chiefs in order to play for Bafana Bafana.

"There is nothing we can do because the game against Morocco falls under the Fifa calender, we will release the players for the game," Motaung said.

Approached for comment, Igesund denied that he was in love with Chiefs.

"What Bobby is saying is not true, I always pick the best players for the national team.

"I do not look at the individual clubs but what is good for the national team," the Bafana coach said.
