AJAX Cape Town have admitted for the first time that Khama Billiat could be moving on, but insist it will be for a hefty price.

Club chief executive George Comitis says approaches have been received from both Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates and that Ajax are considering them.

But they are still reluctant to lose a player of undoubted match-winning quality.

"If it happens that the player is happy with the deal and we are happy too, then we might allow the move," Comitis said yesterday.

He said agents had been "talking telephone numbers" to Billiat, which had left the player torn between staying where he feels comfortable or moving to richer rewards in Gauteng.

Billiat has one more year left on his contract and The Urban Warriors will likely lose him at the end of the season to better offers from elsewhere in South Africa oroverseas.

Their only opportunity to cash in would be now but they might also seek to forgo that profit to have him spearhead a revival of their brand this season after a disastrous campaign in which they narrowly avoided relegation.

Billiat, who turns 23 in August, was signed from academy level in Zimbabwe and was outstanding in his first two seasons in the Premier Soccer League, with 21 goals in all competitions.

But last term, the Zimbabwe international managed just four goals in a season that saw the Cape club plummet to near the bottom of the table after two years of previously having come within minutes of winning the league title.
