FOLLOWING Mamelodi Sundowns' failure to win trophies last season, club president Patrice Motsepe is continuing with the process of restructuring the club's management by redeploying his personnel.
Motsepe had a meeting with the management at the weekend, where it was announced that former Bafana Bafana coach Trott Moloto has been moved from the position of technical head to that of chief scout.
Former Sundowns captain and Under-23 national team assistant coach Mike "Nanana" Ntombela, who was the team manager before the weekend meeting, has since been given the position that was held by Moloto.
Another former skipper of the club, Mike Manzini, is expected to go back to his job of team manager. When Ntombela returned to the club last year, Manzini managed Sundowns' reserve team that campaigned in the Gauteng PSL Monday League.
The first piece in Motsepe's restructuring was Kenneth Makhanya, who has since been moved to the Motsepe Foundation where, among other things, he is supervising the Sasfa Sanlam Kay Motsepe Under-19 Soccer Cup.
Motsepe yesterday described the movements within the club as a "relocation of responsibilities" and said that once all was done Sundowns would issue a statement.
In addition to beefing up the administration, The Brazilians are also busy in the transfer market in search of new players.
One of their biggest recruits is Free State Stars and Zambian international goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene who joined the club at the weekend.
Other new players that will be unveiled by coach Pitso Mosimane in the new season include Cuthbert Malajila, Rodney Ramagalela, Raymond Monama, Mzikayise Mashaba and Tiyani Mabunda. Bryce Moon signed a three-year contract yesterday in a swap deal that saw Sibusiso Khumalo join SuperSport United.
Mosimane is also seeking the services of the Premiership's top scorer, Katlego Mashego from Moroka Swallows. Sundowns players are expected back at the club on June 24 to begin their pre-season camp in Polokwane where they will spend a week getting into shape.
Mosimane will then take his team on a gruelling camp to Ghana on July 12 where they expect to play friendlies against local giants Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
