Clever Boys show Mabizela door after fallout

Wits have sacked defender Mbulelo "OJ" Mabizela after a breakdown in relations with the coaching staff.

The former Bafana Bafana captain's contract with the Premier League club was terminated early this week, after a meeting between the player and the club management, six months before it was due to expire.

Coach Antonio Lopez Habas told the rest of the players on Wednesday morning.

Wits co-director George Mogotsi said The Clever Boys ended the contract after Habas informed the management that Mabizela no longer featured in his plans.

"There is nothing wrong that OJ did, he is a great player," said Mogotsi. "Behaviour-wise OJ was fine."

However, Mogotsi's version does not tally with that of one of the senior players, who said:

"Coach Habas addressed us on Wednesday after training. He informed us OJ was no longer a Wits player because of disagreements with the technical staff".

Attempts to speak to Mabizela yesterday were unsuccessful.

Another talent thrown into waste this boy was marvellous to watch a no nonsense defender. He once scored a scotcha of goal for Tottenham Hotspurs.

South African players a hard to be undertood, they think they are best whereby they can even give coaches headaches because of thinking that they are the best, some of them are even not having school qualifications to can do some thing once they leave soccer and yet they do not do their best when given a chance to work for their monies.

That is a problem with our players and as a results that is why in a thousand only one will survive playing abroad and make it, they are spoilt, when they became right and famours they think they are above everyone and fame goes to their head and forget about their careers and that it is a short career, when they are aborad too they will even start fanny things or actions of not playing for the national team and only play if they want or suit them that is why it will never happen in life that one day we can have a South African player being voted CAF player of the season or of the year, it is even hard to be nominated for BBC Africa footballer of the year because of their attitudes and fame going to their heads.
